During his
many years as a Fashion Photographer in Europe, Asia and the
US, Beau Nestor discovered the best photographic and runway
models had always studied Dance and had rarely graduated
from modeling schools. Realizing that many of the elements
of the Dance were easily transferred to the modeling
industry, Beau pursued more artistic photography with
dancers because of their poise, grace, balance and
stagecraft.
Beau's wife
Gayle, an abstract and impressionist painter, is inspired by
the colour, mood and and movement. Gayle's background is in
the advertising and publishing industry in the US, where she
has been involved in graphical layout and design.
ModelDancer.com is a website that promotes the dancers'
abilities to communicate emotionally with beauty and poise.
Rather than
capture the 'stage performance images', we work with the
dancers, students, their teachers and the studios to capture
elements of the dance in less formal surroundings, often on
location or in rehearsal space, to capture mood and energy.
Naturally, we require the involvement of the studios and
teachers while we are working, and will not photograph
students without a parent present, or a parental release to
the studio/school.
